Thoughts of the Week
· These posts having nothing to do with Geopolitics and Financial Markets. - Even though we all have our particular niches and topics we write and read about, there are other things we all have in common. I like doing these posts as a way to become more personal with anyone who reads it. I hope in time people can respond with their favourite quotes, thoughts, songs, and whatever else has made their week different and exciting.
Quote of the Week
“Most people overestimate what they can do in a day, and underestimate what they can do in a month. We overestimate what we can do in a year, and underestimate what we can accomplish in a decade." – Matthew Kelly
I’ve been rather ill this week, luckily after writing the Geopolitics and Markets Review on Monday. I’d written part 2 of my work on energy last week so only had to release it.
We all need time to rest. My body, and especially my brain, appreciated the rest.
At first, I panicked about what I would miss in terms of my usual scheduled releases. But then I realised progress often occurs over long-term consistency. This brought me back to this quote. Don’t measure your progress by the day. If you miss some of your daily tasks, perhaps your expectations of what you can fit in a day are too high. Cut yourself some slack. Focus on longer time frames and remain consistent always.
Song of the Week
Heartbeat – Half Moon Run

This is a song from their new album. I’d recommend listening to the whole thing. They are one of the best bands in the world for making you feel their music if you know what I mean by that.
Film/TV Show of the Week
· Inside Man – Netflix – One of the perks of being ill is you get to sit around not doing much. I used the time to watch some shows I’d had lined up for a while. One of those was Inside Man. It documents the links between an American on death row and a woman trapped in a cellar in the UK. It’s created by the same guy who created the Sherlock series on the BBC, and so it’s a very clever series. Had me hooked and I’d recommend it.
