This week, I’ll stay on the topic of lithium and dive into the largest lithium-involved companies in the world. This is partly because I had fun last week doing maths and I want to do more.

· Albemarle (ALB)

- Market Cap – 19.888B

- EPS = 33.25

- P/E Ratio = 5.10

- Description: Development, manufacturing, and marketing of speciality chemicals. Operates in sections: Lithium, Bromine, and Catalysts. The lithium sector involves the production of lithium compounds such as lithium carbonate, lithium hydroxide, and lithium chloride for use in batteries.

Recently discarded $A6.6B ($4.16B USD) deal with Liontown Resources.


· Lithium Americas (LAAC)

- Market Cap – 1.119b

- EPS = -0.10

- P/E Ratio = N/A

- Description: Searches for lithium deposits. Owns the Cauchari-Olaroz project in Jujuy province, Argentina and Pastos Grandes in Salta province, Argentina.


· Rio Tinto (RIO)

- Market Cap – 104.428b

- EPS = 5.27

- P/E Ratio = 12.21

- Description: Exploration, mining, and processing of minerals on a global scale. Projects include Iron Ore, Aluminium, Copper, Diamonds, Gold, Borates, Titanium Dioxide, Salt, Silver, Molybdenum, and Lithium.


· Piedmont Lithium (PLL)

- Market Cap – 687.021M

- EPS = -0.72

- P/E Ratio = N/A

- Description: Exploration and development of resource projects in the US. Owns 100% of Carolina Lithium Project. Also owns 5 acres in Bessemer City, North Carolina and 61 acres in Kings Mountain, North Carolina.


· Livent (LTHM)

- Market Cap – 3.321B

- EPS = 1.76

- P/E Ratio = 10.50

- Description: Manufacturers and sells lithium compounds for use in lithium batteries, speciality polymers, and chemical synthesis. Specifically offers battery-grade lithium hydroxide for use in high-performance lithium-ion batteries.


· Pilbara Minerals (PLS.AX)

- Market Cap – 12.279B

- EPS = 0.78

- P/E Ratio = 5.23

- Description: Exploration, development, and operation of mineral resources in Australia, primarily lithium. Holds 100% of the Pilgangoora project in the Pilbara region of Australia.


· SQM

- Market Cap – 16.981B

- EPS = 12.54

- P/E Ratio = 4.74

- Description: Produces and distributes speciality plant nutrients such as iodine derivatives, lithium derivatives, potassium chloride, and potassium sulphate. Also offers other speciality fertilizers. Lithium derivatives include lithium carbonate for use in batteries and lithium hydroxide for lubricating greases and cathodes for batteries.


· Tianqi Lithium (002466.SZ)

- Market Cap – 80.147B

- EPS = 12.48

- P/E Ratio = 4.35

- Description: Produce, process, and sell lithium chemical products in Australia, Chile, the UK, and China. Includes lithium carbonate for batteries, lithium hydroxide, lithium chloride, and lithium metal.

- Description: Manufacturers and sells lithium products internationally. Split into three segments: lithium metal and compound, lithium battery, and lithium ore resources. Has interests in the following projects:
