We know the elections in 2024 will change the global landscape when we reflect upon the year in December 2024. Outside of the elections, there are other trends. How will the fight for influence in the Arctic and its shipping lanes and resource extraction influence geopolitics in 2024? What key trends will define the conflict between Russia and Ukraine in 2024? Will artificial intelligence, weather patterns, or the new space race change how we see the world? Introduction
I’ve spent the last few weeks discussing the upcoming elections around the world in 2024. There are a few other elections that will occur in 2024 that I’m not going to explore in detail yet, but I will when they occur through my 2024 Elections Tracker in the Geopolitics Database.
There are other events outside of the domestic political landscape that will drive geopolitics in 2024. Although I’ve stated that superpower geopolitics will take a rest in 2024, with regional and domestic issues stealing many of the headlines, there are certain events where the ramifications will be felt on a global level. I’ll dive into these today.
